What's New
Welcome to our newest section. Here we intend to report on new, late-breaking news on
all matters PSION. With a slant to the Canadian market (which is looking a little gloomy
at the moment). Enjoy!
1998
- Tuesday 17 February
- Heard that Viking, deciding to use 256Mbyte chips, will be able to offer Psion 48MB and
64MB CompactFlash drives mid-March. A 128MB CF is due late summer! Viking uses a
"Lexar controller" which is purportedly twice as fast as SanDisk. US pricing:
CF48 will be $329; CF64 will be $379. Expect prices to drop quickly as production gets
ramped up. Contact btorbik@earthlink.net for
more info.
- Monday 16 February
- Futureshop (Canada) is carrying Psion Series 5 machines from the U.S. Heard the price is
$995.
- Tuesday 10 February
- Jason Potter (I wonder if he's related) took his Series 5 and discovered the ROM is
fairly easy to change. Visit Jason's
Psion Page (http://freespace.virgin.net/jason.potter/psion.htm) [make may no longer
work] for photos.
